I found a Daniel Colgan listed on the 1860 census for Shelby co. KY. Also checked familysearch.org for Daniel and found him and Mary with their children. They must have left KY after 1847 for Missouri. It shows Mattie's brother born 1847 in Marion, Kentucky, and she was born 1848 in Missouri, as was her sister Ruth. As for her father Daniel, my theory is after Mattie's death her parents got divorced and he moved back to Kentucky. Also found Daniel at Familysearch.org married to another woman, named Christy Ann. There are pictures of their tombstones at Ancestry.com At any rate, this is wonderful information, and I really appreciate your help.
