Daniel's first wife was a Christianne Haller, whom he married sometime in the 1830s and had several children. Perhaps Christianne died, and Mary became the stepmother to Mattie and her older sister Ruth. Still trying to link Mattie to Daniel as his daughter. Will also check the Find a Grave site..
