Includes a report by the Superintendant which describes the state of the school and phrases like :"...various reasons become wards of the City" and "number of children committed and discharged by the Juvenile Court". Don't know if merely Orphans or some juvenile wrong-doers but they baked enough bread to "supply the City Institutions" and their greenouse added to City landscaping ! 3. Is there a way to find out if a person was at that school. I suspect an ancester may have been there prior to being sent to the Shepherds,. The Shepherds were kind enough to verify that my person was there, but I am trying to find out where my person was sent prior to the Shephards. She refers in a letter to being sent 'someplace', then to the Shephards. thanks Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <MOSTLOUI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2010 8:30 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTLOUI] Help - Industrial School - Virginia Ave. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: cralmstedt > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/4216.4.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Also, looking at GoogleBooks and entering "St. Louis MO Industrial > School" there's an entry for the "Mayor's Message, 1909" (p. 147). > Includes a report by the Superintendant which describes the state of > the school > and phrases like :"...various reasons become wards of the City" and > "number of children committed and discharged by the Juvenile Court". > Don't know if merely Orphans or some juvenile wrong-doers but they > baked enough bread to "supply the City Institutions" and their > greenouse added to City landscaping ! > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
