    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: georgia1369 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/10051.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Did you meant that George (born in 1898) married Louise born in 1893 and they had a child in 1910? That would have made George 12 years old when John was born. There is a John DeCosta in the Missouri online death records who was born March 10, 1909 and died 14 January 1957, son of Fred DeCosta and Catherine Fay according to the death certificate. http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ There is also a Fred Decosta's death (26 November 1921) there with wife's name as Kate DeCosta. YOu can download the two death certificates. You can get Fred's obit from the St. Louis Public LIbrary for a small fee. You can email them from the following website. http://www.slpl.lib.mo.us/libsrc/geneinfo.htm The 1900 census shows a Fred DeCosta with wife named Kate Irene (not sure about the middle name). They have been married 10 years and she had 5 children, 2 of whom are still living-Fred born Sept. 1890 and George born Sep. 1898. The 1920 census shows a George DeCosta with wife named Louise-no children enumerated with them. I don't think that Fred Costa would be a stretch if the census taker thought that the "de" was for the middle initial of the person's name.
