These are my notes: In 1901, Lily Pearson, age 24, single, was working in the bar of the Cock and Ball (not Bull), 15 Market Place,Romford, Essex. Her father, Alfred J Pearson, age 50, was the householder and a licensed victualler (ie, a pub landlord). Younger brother Alfred, age 22, was also working in the bar, and there were also an 18 yr old potman and a general servant, a 20 yr old woman. Lily and young Alfred said they were born in Canonbury; the father's birthplace was Upper Clapton. At that date, Richard was still living with his first wife Harriet Scutt at 4 Linden St, Romford, Essex. When he left Harriet is uncertain, but in 1911, he and Lily said they had been married for 10 years. Though I can't find a marriage record. Lily's USA naturalization record gives her father's name. Free BMD is a great site, in some ways more useful than the same data on Ancestry. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
