I want you all to know that I have finally succeeded in determining the true and actual last name of Arthur William Miller/Poteet and the true and actual first name for his beloved mother!! How? THE 1900 FEDERAL CENSUS! (may God bless this particular census taker)!! It goes as follows: 1900 Federal Census Kansas City, Jackson Co., Mo. June 1, 1900 Sheet# 2 B Prospect Avenue Family# 40 Poteet, James C. Head Policeman 49 yrs. b. Aug. 1851 in Tn. Married 9 yrs. f.b. Tn. m.b. Tn. Sophie M. (A little different version but short for 'Sophia' so we are still at '3' for the number of given names for her.) Wife 34 yrs. b. April 1866 in Tx. f.b. Germany m.b. Germany Claudius E. Son Day laborer 26 yrs. b. Nov. 1873 in Tn. f.b. Tn. m.b. Tn. Arthur W. Poteet Son 9 yrs. b. July 1890 in Mo. f.b. Tn. m.b. Tx. END I am hoping that, after reading the above census, a jaw or two has dropped and somewhere out there someone is saying "Oh my goodness, they're part of my family"!!! If this is indeed the case then I really would like to hear from you if you care to contact me. Lela had no children and, as near as I can determine, Arthur didn't either so we wouldn't be stepping on the toes of any of their descendants when discussing this between ourselves.
