Hi Everyone, Kathy Smith from St. Louis Public Library. I would like to invite you to a free genealogy class that we are offering. The class is "Making Sense of the Census: Finding Your Ancestors in Census Reports." We will be joined by special guest Dennis Northcott of the Missouri Historical Society, who will be sharing his expertise with us. The program will cover how to make the best use of Federal censuses, as well as what can be found in state, local, and special censuses, what exists, and where it can be found. Mr. Northcott will focus on the MHS holdings, while SLPL staff will look at materials for other states as well as Federal censuses and census substitutes. If you've ever had a question about censuses, now is the time to ask! The program is scheduled for Saturday, November 13, from 10AM to Noon at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street downtown. The program is free and open to the public; you do not need to be a resident of the city or have a library card to attend. Parking is free. Registration is strongly suggested. Please call (314) 539-0385 or email me at mailto:ksmith@slpl.lib.mo.us for registration or further information. Hope to see you there! Sincerely, Kathleen J. Smith Librarian History & Genealogy
