Here is a list of newspapers published in St. Louis: http://www.slcl.lib.mo.us/slcl/sc/sc-news.htm Also, the University of Missouri has a library called the Mercantile Library that has a great collection of St. Louis Globe Democrat clippings. They also have a good book that lists the names of steamboat captains and gives info about them. You can search the St. Louis Globe Democrat clippings that the Mercantile library has on file at this site: http://www.umsl.edu/mercantile/special_collections/directory/slma-112.html You can e-mail or call the Mercantile library. They will run copies of articles and mail them to you for a small fee. Diane
