If any one can help me, I would be so happy. I have a ancestor on the 1850 census. I can not read the hand writing of the census taker, for where she was born. If you can make out the state where she was born, would be a great help to me. 1850 census St Louis City, county of St Louis, MO page 271 5th Ward dwelling 1189 Meriah Wardwell age: 40 female born: ???? deaf her children are listed and others living in the household I have no ideal if she was born in: Mass. or Maine or Mississippi ???????
