My father's ancestors are from the village Gündlingen, today part of Breisach in Baden. Very close to Alsace. I have a few ancestors from the Alsace area, and I think that some other people from Gündlingen may have moved over the Rhine river. The name "Widensohler" for example is a typical family name from Gündlingen, first mentioned around 1650. It is said that this name was given to a man who came to Gündlingen from Widensolen, Alsace after the 30-Years War. By the way, your english is nearly perfect, there's no need to excuse!
