Kansas is now known as Holly Hills. This cemetery was closed in 1924 and 10,000 burial were moved to the new location off Rock Hill and is now known as St. Paul's churchyard. The office has a print out of the old burials. I was able to locate a grave & headstone that had been relocated. Office personal were very helpful. Check with the cemetaries where all known people are buried to find out who maybe buried in same plot. Also see what kind of information they have. Call funeral directors from death certificates and see what information you can get from them. The Funeral home name may have changed so you may have to do some research. They can tell you if there was a obit in paper and also give you the information from it which may give you living children. Check Social Security death index to see where the last benefit went because it may have gone to a child living in another town. Also check for mate because sometimes they move after their mate dieds. Check Greene County US GEN web county site and that may help you. Check local newspapers online and search their archives for all obits with same last names. They may list parents and children still living. I have found people using all of the above but it still took alot of time. You may have to go thru many people to find living people. Good luck, Charlie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Includes a report by the Superintendant which describes the state of the school and phrases like :"...various reasons become wards of the City" and "number of children committed and discharged by the Juvenile Court". Don't know if merely Orphans or some juvenile wrong-doers but they baked enough bread to "supply the City Institutions" and their greenouse added to City landscaping ! Is there a way to find out if a person was at that school. I suspect an ancester may have been there prior to being sent to the Shepherds,. The Shepherds were kind enough to verify that my person was there, but I am trying to find out where my person was sent prior to the Shephards. She refers in a letter to being sent 'someplace', then to the Shephards. thanks Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <MOSTLOUI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2010 8:30 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTLOUI] Help - Industrial School - Virginia Ave. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: cralmstedt > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/4216.4.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Also, looking at GoogleBooks and entering "St. Louis MO Industrial > School" there's an entry for the "Mayor's Message, 1909" (p. 147). > Includes a report by the Superintendant which describes the state of > the school > and phrases like :"...various reasons become wards of the City" and > "number of children committed and discharged by the Juvenile Court". > Don't know if merely Orphans or some juvenile wrong-doers but they > baked enough bread to "supply the City Institutions" and their > greenouse added to City landscaping ! > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
