    1. [MOSTLOUI] Eugene Orton
    2. Regan Lowrey
    3. Hello Everyone, I am a new researcher to this list and have a query. First let me say that I searched the Archives of this list already and found no leads. I hope somebody here can help. Specifically, I am searching for a Eugene Orton, m. Nettie Rieff (est. 1880-1886) and had a baby delivered at 2223 Franklin Ave. St. Louis on 8 April 1886 named Eugene Drysdale Orton. I have found Nettie Orton listed as "wid. of Eugene" in the 1891 St. Louis City Directory living at the same address as two of her brothers, 2642 Franklin Ave. so it looks as if Eugene Orton (the father) died some time between the birth of his son, Eugene Drysdale, in 1886 and the listing of his wife Nettie as a widow in 1891. Nettie Rieff is listed as 19 years old and still single in the 1880 Census living at home on 1727 Franklin Avenue in St. Louis. I have been unable to find any marriage record for Eugene Orton and Nettie Rieff nor any records of Eugene Orton other than the one where he is named in the 1886 St. Louis Birth Registry as the father of his son. My Orton cousins in Denver and I would be grateful for any leads as to the identity of Eugene Orton in St. Louis in the 1880's. regan

Looking at the STL Co. Directory for 1939, it's listed for Herman E. Schaeffer. I thought he might be kid #6 but there is also another Herman Shaeffer family & he was born 1/23/1883, before your Herman's marriage. His WW 1 Draft Card image wouldn't show up to get an idea where he lived. Anyway, there surely is a Schaeffer connection ! 1. [MOSTLOUI] Need help in finding death data
    2. George/Rosalie
    3. My 3rd ggf William Davis and his wife Rachel located to St Louis about 1830 and the 1830 census shows them living in Bon Homme township. William died in 1832 according to his probate records but I have not been able to find any other death or burial information. The last bit of information I have on Rachel is documented in the 1850 census but I have found nothing further on her death either. I've searched everywhere I can think of to find some death or burial records but totally unsuccessful. Not sure where to turn next. I'd appreciate any help someone might have to find this information. Thanks - George

In a message dated 9/11/2010 2:08:33 AM Central Daylight Time, mostloui-request@rootsweb.com writes: I am looking for information on my grandfather, Robert William Hubbard who also worked for the Missouri Pacific RR.. He worked in the roundhouse in St. Louis, MO. He played in the Missouri Pacific Booster's Band. (I think this was an all African American Band) This band played at many functions including once at the governors ball. I do not have a SS or Railroad number. Do you know how I can contact the RR Archives? Any help would be greatly appreciated There are 13 Robert W. Hubbards in the SSDI. Do you know his birth, death or location of death. From there you can get his social security number. I think in many cases the railroads use the SS number. There is a railroad retirement board. What was his job? I know a man who has some information on Engineers and Firemen of the Missouri Pacific Railroad and I have a seniority roster for Engineers (can't remember the exact year at the moment). Mary

    3. The Missouri Pacific Railroad published an employee magazine titled "Missouri Pacific Lines Magazine." The Missouri History Museum Library and Research Center holds a run of issues of this magazine from 1943 to 1965. These issues are filled with articles and announcements about railroad employees. Eventually we hope to index the names in this magazine and add them to our Genealogy and Local History Index: http://genealogy.mohistory.org/. The "Missouri Pacific Lines Magazine" dates back to 1926. See the following link on WorldCat for libraries that hold issues of this magazine: http://www.worldcat.org/title/missouri-pacific-lines-magazine/oclc/12151315&referer=brief_results On a related topice, we've nearly completed indexing the issues of "The Pullman News." This index will soon be added to our Genealogy and Local History Index: http://genealogy.mohistory.org/. The records of the Pullman Company and a couple other railroads are at the Newberry Library in Chicago: http://www.newberry.org/collections/railroad.html Dennis Northcott Associate Archivist for Reference Missouri History Museum
