Bayard and it seems the hospital was turned into a TB facility in 1899, then transferred to the "Veterans' Bureau" in 1922 and it mentions the cemetery being turned over also and speaks of a "civilian section" so maybe a record exists in the files. Author: cralmstedt Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/10421.4.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm working on some Ohio niece's where a "family history" had a lot of conflicts in it, so I was thinking if he enlisted in St. Louis it may have been at JB. Also thought about him giving his age at 21 so he could join then later giving his true age. You can search for JB and get an idea of what it was but now it is mainly a cemetery and any records probably would be on "Morning Reports" microfilm if available (I looked at Ft. Brown, TX in the past). That 1906 is puzzling and he didn't just vanish so I'll try to help out. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. There is a good chance that this person was/is at the Veteran's Hospital located in Jefferson Barracks, not at the barracks itself. I don't know what kind of records are available, but it is still a veteran's hospital. Her sister Emma Warner was also born in MO about 1859. Their parents were born in Germany about 1820 according to the census so there may have been older children who did not move with them to the Pittsburgh PA area between 1859 - 1864.
