Surnames: Rowland, Turner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WMB.2ACE/4626.1.1 Message Board Post: I believe it should be in the Dispatch - but the online obits do not go back that far. St. Louis is the only postoffice listed for that zip code. The local libraries here do not have the Post back that far either - they only keep the last 3 years. I was hoping that someone could check the St. Louis library when they were doing other research. I have not requested an interlibrary copy yet (one needs to know the exact citation to do that)- nor have I ordered a death certificate. I am interested in the other information that usually appears in the obituary, and in tracing living descendants. Thank you for the suggestions - I didn't know you could use the zip code site to go backwards from the zip code - have only used it to find the zipcode when I knew the town.

    2. Hi, J'Anette, At 81 it always amazes me at how much information about our former lives has been lost to the younger generation. Here is a song your grandmother probably sang. I Don’t Want To Play In Your Yard / Playmate It has a line about sliding down the cellar door, which would probably have been a wooden door. Try putting cellar door into your browser. Bilco company has a picture of a cellar door that is open, but you should be able to see how children would have fun sliding down the closed door. LaVerne

    2. nscott
    3. Grandmother stated she "liked sliding down basement doors," and that she went to an ice cream social at the church and was sliding down, when she "flipped over somehow and slid down on my knee." This would have been an elementary age girl, 1940's or 50's, St. Louis/Wellesley. Does anyone know what she is talking about? Can you describe it so I can illustrate it for my little book? Thank you J'Anette

He was one of 22, one of his brothers, Ulrich, married Anna Anheuser, sister of Lilly, Adolphus' wife. Anna and Lilly were daughters of Eberhard Anheuser. They were married in a double ceremony. There's a book published in 1991, "Under the Influence, the Unauthorized Story of the Anheuser-Busch Dynasty" that gives some background to the Busch family. The authors are Peter Hernon and Terry Ganey, and the publisher is Simon and Schuster. Other brothers are mentioned briefly in the book. It was a colorful family, and continues to be. Rosie
