Thank you for checking for the name. Someone sent me this information. Henry Meirotto married Anna Lochner 11-18-1852 in St. Louis and John meyerotte died 7-17-1864, buried Holy Trinity Cemetery also Ch. Meyeroth d. 6-24-1866 buried Holy Trinity and Catherine Huchtons d. 6-29-1860 buried Holy Trinity (she was related to the Meierotto's). I am sure that if Catherine Elizabeth MeierOtto and her son Joseph were buried in Holy Trinity they were probably some of those that either didn't have stones or the stones could not verify who they were. I may never be able to proove any of this. Maybe some day someone will translate the Holy Trinity German Church records and we may find something there. The Meierotto's in Calvary cemetery are all related. Thanks for your help.

I also looked through the city index for births in the 1850's and found no Meirotto except the ones I've already sent you. I got some info from St Liborius church and found almost no references of any Meierotto's or George Boedeker, but I did find a Jos. Meierotto listed as member in the 1907 Golden Jubilee book.

If it is the St. Louis Metro area, I would guess that the St. Louis papers would have carried the obit/death notice. If not, I would contact a library in Affton (use a google search) and see what the local papers are and if they are available for that time period anywhere in the library system. I live in Affton. I'm 12 miles south of the St. Louis Arch along highway 55. Are you trying to find someone in a Cemetery or at one of the local funeral parlors? I'll be glad to do the look ups. I OldeNtQer

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WMB.2ACE/4781.2 Message Board Post: I don't believe you'll find anything for 1875 other than a city directory. For 1865 there should be a census of St. Louis City. However, the city censuses are not indexed, with the exception of 1840 (whole county?) and 1845. The Missouri Historical Society in Forest Park and the St. Louis County Library on Lindbergh have the city census microfilm. If you don't live in the area, email me and I can help with the city directories.

Surnames: Steidemann/Wilshusen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WMB.2ACE/3072.1 Message Board Post: Julius Steidemann was the brother to my husband's grtgrandfather, Martin Steidemann. I've completed Steidemann and Wilshusen family histories. A copy can be found in the St. Louis Public Library - downtown branch- in the Genealogy Dept. The Steidemann name was originally spelled Steudemann. Julius was born as Johann August Julius Steudemann Dec. 28, 1828 in Altenburg, Germany to Johann Heinrich Steudemann and Johanna Sophia nee Jope. Julius was baptized at St. Bartholomew Church in Altenburg on Jan. 11, 1829. Julius married Eva Maria Adam on July 28, 1855 at Holy Ghost Evangelical Church, St. Louis, MO. Witnesses were Franz Martin Steidemann and Emilie Steidemann. The record showed Julius born Altenburg, Sachsen Altenburg and Mary born Sibillesville, Maryland. Eva Maria went by the name of Mary. The Steidemann family came to St. Louis in 1835. Mary's mother was Maria Wilshusen who came to the US in 1833 with her brother, Heinrich Claus Wilshusen. Note: Claus' daughter, Mary Ann, married Martin Franz Steidemann. Julius died Dec. 28, 1908 in St. Louis. Mary died Jan. 15, 1893 in St. Louis. They had one son, Philip Heinrich Julius Steidemann b. July 5, 1857 in St. Louis. I have this family traced to present day Steidemanns in St. Louis.

They have some of the city census info - not all. I do not think there is one place where you will find all of the information because a lot of it was lost over the course of time. Try e-mailing the archivist at:archivist@mohistory.org and asking if there are census records for those years. Diane
