I found an old magazine clipping that confirmed my grandfather, A.D. Brown, as being a namesake of the company. I had always heard there was a connection in the family with the Hamilton-Brown Shoe Company. However, my father is also an A.D. Brown, making him the 2nd. Then I find on the internet yet another A.D. Brown, who founded the shoe company. Never heard of him. Undoubtedly, he is an uncle to my Grandfather. I need to find out the relationship, whatever it is.

(314-854-4000) they are still in business so I doubt you would get much record info from them. I went to school in the early 1980's with descendants of the founder, but if I remember right they were from the female line, I do not remember their last name. I might be able to find out. The father was working for the company at the time.
Hiya Groups, Looking for a marriage between Charles L. Whitney, b. 1882 Illinois possibly to a Eleanora /?/. Charles was born in East St. Louis and his parents are buried at Mt. Hope. There is also a Eleanora that died in 1915 that I have not been able to identify as being part of the family. Possible explanation is that she is Charles' wife that died shortly after they married. Thanks, Laurie

Now that Brown Shoe is approaching its 125th anniversary, we have a history and heritage that only a handful of companies can match. Unfortunately, we have not kept these records, so we are unable to assist you. Best of luck in your family research. Best regards, Tina Consumer Services"
Regarding the DUGAN'S, I'm not sure what religion they were. How does one access the Archdiocese online records ? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The all-new My Yahoo! - Get yours free! http://my.yahoo.com
Were they Catholic? The Archdiocese has posted the burials online. From that information you can then ask for an obit from the St Louis Public Library. Both the Social Security Application and the death certificate will have her parents' names. The SS-5 is information supplied by the applicant so is more reliable than the death record which was supplied by a 3rd party. Both are primary sources as they were created at the time of the event. Have you done the Census work for Daisy? Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest have online digitized sources.
