Surnames: Kaime, Mansur Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WMB.2ACE/4808 Message Board Post: The Washington Post, Washington DC., Sat Nov 11, 1911. p5 Laura Sherburne Kaime, daughter of George Kaime, of St Louis, MO, will come into a $5,000,000 inheritence in January, when she becomes of age. She will be the richest debutante in St. Louis. About $20,000,000 was left to the three children of George Kaime by their grandfather, Alvah Mansur, head of the Mansur-Tebbetts Implement Company, which was absorbed by the Deere Plow Company. He died in 1898. Each is to receive $5,000,000 when of age, and the balance when deemed capable of handling their estate. The trust will continue for the girls throughout their lives, and they will receive only the income. Should they marry they are to get $10,000 each as dowers.

Our records show he died in 1848 in St. Louis of small pox. Also, he was born in 1782 in Westmoreland Co., PA, so that would make him 100 in 1882! Our records show that his son travelled to St. Louis some time after his death and marked his grave, so hoping there is a cemetery record somewhere! Appreciate your help!

I know that Louisa was also from St. Louis and I have researcherd her some and found Irish surnames in her pedigree, so there could be a connection.

My great uncle was born there. After the fair, they returned to Dubuque, IA., where my grandmother and the rest of the children were born. Would this help you in any way? Sincerely, Cindy Nielsen

As a person who worked for a large St. Louis company in Corporate Communications, contact them directly! Most big companies have a historical collection of information and are happy to give you info on the company. They typically produce anniversary magazine issues and other items that document the company's history. I know, because I did that for General American Life Insurance (now MetLife) in St. Louis. So call Brown Shoe directly and ask for the Corporate Communications/Corporate Relations/Communications department. I'm sure they'll have someone happy to share the company's history with you. And if this doesn't get you anything, email me directly. I have a friend who currently works there who can prod someone over there to action. Best of luck! Cheryl
