    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: NNickolaus1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/10045.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Some of these probate records are on line. Also some death records. St. Louis has more than most. Check out the Missouri Secretary of State web site: http://www.sos.mo.gov/categories.asp?id=4 I did a quick search and found several sullivans within your time frame. In particular there was a Daniel Sullivan who had a son named William, but his wife was named Nancy. On the probate records, what you have to do is look through the papers to find where the heirs (i.e. widow and children) are listed. The records are not complete, and not everyone actually files for probate. The secretary of state site also has some pre-1910 death information. I ran Mary Sullivan and got several hits. Be sure you know exactly what city you are talking about. St. Louis the city seperated from St. Louis county (the suburbs) in 1876 and this makes a difference how you search. Good hunting! Your Florence may have been a descendant of Charles Simoneau and Marie Picard, m.6 July,1771 in St.Louis. Possibly a GDau as most sources have her as being born 1815-20 era. Charles Simoneau may have been a veteran of the Battle of Fort St.Carlos during the Rev War at St.Louis,1780. He is listed as a householder in old records in St.Louis. A group of Simoneau's also settled in New Bourbon, near the town of Ste.Genevieve in St.Genevieve Co.,Mo.and lived in that county and Washington Co.,Mo.in the very early days. As I was told by an old Simoneau historian years ago, Indian blood does runs in their family. I did find another bit of information that supports my hunch that Florence Rayoum and Florence Simoneau (also Simonot) are the same person. Check out the online records of probate papers for Antoine Rollete's estate at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/mojudicial/ It appears that Florence's 2nd husband, Antoine Rolet dit Laderoute, left her with a fair amount of debt after he died. His estate went to probate court. Some of the documents are signed as Florence Rolette or "her mark". At least 2 notes are signed by Florence Rayoum. Sorry, I have not seen any info about the Rayoum's being of American Indian heritage. I will be happy to post my findings if I ever come across anything.
