It would be Frederick Dornbusch and his father was Henry Dornbusch (Dornbush , other spelling) no mention of his mother I am assuming maybe she died in childbirth or shortly after because the next year they moved to Illinois. where Henry married another. Also know they immigrated here from German Prussia and may have come through the port of New Orleans??? would like to know if there is a record of Fred's birth or of his mother.... etc. Thank You so much for any info you maybe able to offer! The sacramental registers are in the custody of the parish or the designated custodian.? Those records have been microfilmed by the LDS missionaries and are available from the Family History Library in Salt Lake and your local LDS Family History Center. The Family Search has many of the marriages and on microfilm. microfilm available online at familyfrearch.org. I have no idea of the years you are searching as you only said "grandparents" Ellen -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, 14 Jul 2008 5:23 pm Subject: Re: [MOSTLOUI] Looking for my grand-parents graves This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. The limited info I've been able to find so far explains that several women's orchestras were organized in the late 1930's (since the major symphonies were all-male), most of which disbanded shortly after WWII began (b/c the general symphonies reluctantly started to accept women members when many men were drafted for the war.) I found an online article by Shelley Yagow, "Women Orchestral Conductors in America: The Struggle for Acceptance," which has a comprehensive list of the women's orchestras in the U.S. from 1925-45 and which shows the St. Louis group (directed by Edith Gordon) was only in existence from 1937-1941, which fits right into this pre-WWII time frame. I'm unsure which exact year(s) my mom was in the Orchestra, but she would have either been still been in high school or only recently graduated -- between 1937-1941, she was only 15-19 years old. Shortly after the end o! f WWII, my mom developed a severe case of TB, from which she fortunately recovered; but she was left with very compromised lung capacity and so was no longer able to play her beloved horn. I'd love to find more info about this Orchestra (and, if possible, find recordings.) Is anyone familiar with this Orchestra or have suggestions on where I might look for more information? That is about the vaguest request I've ever seen made to the list. It's like saying "I knew a guy from St. Louis-his name maybe have Jones or Bones-- please see if you can find him for me." PS. I'll make one suggestion--the name may be spelled Schlueter---some people having that surname pronounce it as Schlooter, while others having that name pronounce it as "Sleeter". At any rate St. Louis has a lot of both. **************Get the scoop on last night's hottest shows and the live music scene in your area - Check out TourTracker.com!
