They have some marriages online with images of the record. Otherwise, contact the Recorder of Deeds for St. Louis City marriages: http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/recorder/ Good luck with trying to find divorce information. I am still waiting for a call back from the court or wherever I called back in May. Started calling every couple of weeks and then my computer died and I forgot about it. I have had several people on the St. Louis Mailing list say it took years to get the information about the divorce. Maybe if you live in St. Louis it would be easier just to go to the place where the records are keep. Anyway, here are three of the phone numbers I was told to call regarding the divorce. And I asked them if they would call back since I live in Michigan and thought that they might not be able to. But I was told it was okay. Author: Georgia1910 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.stlouis/10077.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There is a Eugene Murphy on the 1930 census enumerated at the St. Joseph Orphanage in St. Louis. He is 7 years old, born in Missouri and parents' birthplace unknown. Do you think this may be Ann's brother? If so, it could help narrow down the time frame for his mother's death and possibly his father's. The Secretary of STate of Missouri has an online index to Missouri deaths for 1910 to 1957 and each year they add another year. Most of the names have images of the death certificate. There are a lot of Murphys. You might want to look for a male with the same first name as the boys as well as first limiting your search to St. Louis City. And then maybe all Murphys that died in St. Louis City in a certain year. http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ In addition, you should check the online index to obits that appeared in the Post-Dispatch. You can order copies of the obits from the St. Louis Public Library for $0.25 per page plus $1.00 postage. They used to limit the copies to 20 per request. You might want to see if that has changed. http://www.slpl.lib.mo.us/libsrc/geneinfo.htm The Library also has City Directories for St. Louis-you might want to see if she is listed for the years that she had turned 18 and older. If you email the library, send a separate request for the obits and a separate email for the city directory look up. Do you have the marriage record for Ann? Have you written for her Social Security Application? I think the price is somewhere about $26-$29 now-used to be $7.00. You apply for a copy under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) The application has a place for the parents' names although I have a copy of an application where the person listed his mother's maiden name incorrectly. His mother died at a young age and he may not have known her maiden name. http://www.socialsecurity.gov/foia/html/foia_guide.htm The SS death index shows that she applied for her SS number before 1951 in Missouri. Hi - The actual image of your Frederick M. DeCosta's death certificate is online, and free. You can print it out. It indicates Frederick's father as unknown, from France; his mother as Amanda Rippley, from France. A WW2 army vet, moving to Vermont with her husband after an honorable discharge, they later moved to Hadley, NY in 1957. The only siblings I know of are William, Eugene and Frank Murphy (Alive Post-2000) The above information is all from her obituary in the Post Star, Glens Falls, New York. I have looked in 1920 Census for St. Louis and even Missouri in general and have not been able to link her to the names of her parents. There is a family rumor that she was raised by a pair of 'aunts' named tentatively Agnes Mueller and Annie (possibly Mueller). Possiblity Spinsters and I don't know where the Mueller's are in regards to the family. Thank you for your time. Could anyone tell me what the boundaries of Bonhomme Township might have been around 1850? Or suggest where I might find out. I am trying to figure out which cemeteries would have been in Bonhomme township in 1849-1850, and whether or not any of those cemeteries still exist. Thank so much for any help! Christine
