Here are a couple good new resources for St. Louis research: 1. The Library of Congress' Chronicling America website (http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/search/pages/) includes the digitized, keyword-searchable "St. Louis Republic," 1900-1904. Under the "OR select newspaper(s)" heading, select "St. Louis Republic," then try some searches in the "Enter search" section. Note to house historians: If you are researching a house that dates back to this time period (1900-1904), search for the street address of your home. Please note: These digitized newspaper issues were rendered searchable by optical character recognition (OCR) software, which translates scanned printed text into machine-readable (i.e., searchable) text. Oftentimes, the OCR software misinterprets the typeset letters. 2. The St. Louis Genealogical Society (www.stlgs.org) has recently released the "St. Louis Burials, Volume 3" CD, which includes information on more than 330,000 burials in 21 St. Louis City and County cemeteries. The CD includes burials from the following cemeteries: Bellefontaine Bellerive Heritage City Cemetery (Benton Park) Crescent Community Elm Lawn Friedens Gumbo Hillcrest Abbey Mausoleum Memorial Park Mount Lebanon Musick Baptist New Coldwater Burying Ground Oak Hill Ohave Shalom Park Lawn Salem Lutheran St. John's Evangelical St. Paul's Evangelical St. Trinity Lutheran Washington Park Zion UCC For information on other good resources, consult the Missouri History Museum's Genealogy Links page: http://www.mohistory.org/lrc/family-history/genealogy-links If you would like to receive the Missouri History Museum's monthly Genealogy and House History News e-newsletter, send an email to dpn@mohistory.org with the word "subscribe" in the subject line and your name in the body of the email. He was listed as a veteran of the Civil War and 90th Ill infantry. I have his basic military information from the Illinois archives site, but I have not been able to find any more records for him after this. I thought I bookmarked the original record which showed him living in Missouri, but I cannot find it now. He was not listed in the death records for Missouri, but Kennelly can be spelled a million and one ways. I am trying to prove or, more likely, disprove that he is my g-g-grandfather. I understand that he had an arm amputated due to a would at the battle of Chattanoga. Any help would be appreciated. I guess, having looked at a map of the city, Washington Blvd and Washington Ave might have been relatively interchangeable around the 3702 and 3706 address area as this seems to be where they meet. As an aside, I have an entry for a Matthew Keefe on the army enlistments pre-these dates. If this was the same person and he had joined the army, how were army personnel represented in the 1900 Census? I guess it would be a needle in haystack because it would be wherever they were stationed at the time? It may explain though why they are not in the 1900 Census in St. Louis. I want to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to send me suggestions and help in locating my aunt and uncle. It appears he had a brother who came from Ireland and settled in St. Louis as well, which was a huge surprise. I am in hopes of connecting with some McALEENAN descendants and have much to share with them on the McGUINNESS (various spellings) as well. You truly have blessed me. Sometime after his death in 1914, she married Charles Oluf Olsen. Matilda and Oluf had a son, William "Billy" Olsen, (1921-1985). Apparently, William moved to St. Louis, Missouri as an adult. Matilda lived with Oluf in Penn Township of Allegheny County (near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvana) as late as 1942 (Oluf's WW2 draft registration.) I cannot find a death record for Oluf, but family tradition says that Matilda (born 1880) moved out to St. Louis. There is a St. Louis death record for Matilda Olsen in 1957. Perhaps she moved out with Billy after Oluf's death? Does anyone know if there are searchable obituary indexes or newspapers for this time period in St. Louis? Where would one write in Missouri for a copy of the will/estate papers? Does anyone know if Billy ever married or had children?
