LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, July 29, 1932 MRS. BETTY HULSEY Mrs. Betty Hulsey, a resident of this county the past thirty years, passed away Saturday, July 23, 1932, at the home of her son, Henry, west of Desloge, having reached the ripe old age of 88 years, 3 months and 8 days. She had been a sufferer with cancer of the stomach the past three years, but had been bed-ridden only three weeks. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon, at two o'clock at the Flat River Christian Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Morgan Harris. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at St. Francois. Betty Hopkins, youngest daughter of the late James and Susan Besthel Hopkins, was born in Crawford County, Missouri, April 15, 1841. She grew to womanhood in the same community in which she was born and was married February 15, 1875 to Charles Hulsey, who passed away to the Great Beyond 40 years ago. They were the parents of four children, all of whom survive: Henry and Brown of near Desloge; Rida (Mrs. Dow Downing) of Picher, Okla., and Florence (Mrs. Wm. Berry) of DeSoto. She also leaves the following step children: Mrs. Clara McKeen, Bisbee, Arizonia; Mrs. Emma Bass, Potosi; Mrs. Mattie Keay, Flat River and Caric Hulsey, Washington County, Missouri. There are 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Coughlin of Cantwell, who has passed the age of 90 years. Her other sister, Mrs. Mary Larned died last March at the age of 92 years. To the bereaved ones the News offers sincere sympathy.
