That doesn't really mean much. I know of many cases where GNIS has a clearly incorrect name for a cemetery (often just a misspelling), and the local people continue to call it by the correct name - the 2 parties oblivious of each other. The Woodlawn Cemetery was given to the City of Leadington in 1965. I have newspaper articles and have found obits going back into the early 1920s it was called Woodlawn Cemetery then too. I have used GNIS for some time. It is my experience that they list places not only with current names but variations on the names that have been used in the past as well. This is useful for genealogists because places may not be called the same thing now as they were in the past. For example, Washington National Airport is now Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (as of 1998). Just as Regan is still called Washington National by locals, it may be that Woodlawn is called that but that its official name is Oaklawn as of 1944. It seems to me that is the case from the information collected by GNIS. GNIS says Oaklawn is a variant: Woodlawn Cemetery Citation Ramsay Place-Name Card Collection. A collection of approximately 32,000 place names on filing cards. Three sets exits: one at USGS-GNIS in Reston, Virginia; one in the Western Historical Manuscripts Collection at the University of Missouri-Columbia; one in the State Historical Society of Missouri at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The last set was used for Phase II compilation because it was organized by counties. Names were collected by students writing theses during the period 1929 to 1945. The date on the Phase II entry refers to the year of completion of the thesis that covered a given county.
