FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, January 29, 1909 ANOTHER DEATH FROM FALLING ROCK IN MINE _________ Henry Fortner Crushed to Death in Federal Shaft No. 7 at Flat River _________ Last Wednesday morning about 9 o'clock in shaft No. 7 of the Federal Lead Company, a "back" rock fell on Henry Fortner, crushing him in a terrible manner and killing him instantly. He was about forty years of age, lived at Flat River and leaves a wife and five or six children to mourn his untimely death. This is the third death that has occurred in the Lead Belt mines within the last three weeks from the same cause.
