RE: 1850 Census Washington Co, Liberty Twnship -- Family #647 Pleasant Johnson is listed at bottom of page. The following page continues with same family # but the 6 children listed have PRATT surname. Do you think this is an error on the census taker's part? OR, were these children 'adopted' by the Pleasant Johnson family? OR, were they visiting and just became part of the Johnson family due to their physical location at the time the census taker arrived? A Courtois question ... an email from a lister noted that Stephen "Etienne" Courtois was married in 1830's to a Marguerite M. Sansoucie. In the 1880's, it is widely reported that Louis Courtois (my grandfather) was first married to Mary Margaret Agatha Sansoucie, had several children, then he married Julia Rulo (my grandmother) about 1900 and had several more children (Harriet, Richard, Catherine, Elizabeth (my mother). Does anyone know if/how Louis & Stephen were related? I realize a lot of family names are repeated through generations, but does anyone think the near sameness of these wives' names is somewhat questionable? On Family Search 1900 Census, Family #47, Louis Courtois b. Nov 1855, married to Julia Rulo (my grandmother) with 6 children (Ferdinand, Alfred, Frederick, Tresa, Risa?, Amos), and this record states that estimated date of their marriage is 1881. Would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thank you. Mary Pratt BurkRESEARCHING: Pratt, Courtois, Emily, Rulo, Villmer in mostly counties of Ste.
