Jun 03, 2009 - Daily Journal. FARMINGTON Abigail Louise Rickus of Farmington passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the age of 101 years, 8 months, and 9 days. She was born on September, 23, 1907, at Farmington, daughter the late George and Birdie (Griffin) Rickus. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Leilah Rickus and Reba Manley. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. For many years she was employed as a teacher at St. Louis and Farmington public schools. In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bridge and reading a wide variety of literature. She was regarded as an excellent cook, especially for her homemade caramels. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Manley, several distant cousins and numerous friends. Visitors may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 3, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at the Cozean Chapel at 11 a.m. with Dr. Rick Broadway officiating. Interment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
