Listers, Please remember to limit your messages to matters concerning informational and informative genealogical content and queries pertaining to St. Francois County only. Simple thank-you messages and messages containing general chit-chat should be sent via "private" email and not through the list. If you want to talk about feeding your dogs or how many bills you have to pay, take it to a chatroom or send a private e-mail. These type of messages only clutter up the list archives and aggravate the other subscribers. Please keep in mind that when you send a message that it is going not only to the person you're writing to but about 275 other people as well. If it's a private-type message, look at your "TO" line before you hit send and ask yourself whether the message contains information that people other than your intended recepient would be interested in, or whether it contains information that others might be interested in finding in the future. If not, please try to remember to delete List e-mail address and insert the recepient's private email address. An occasional slip-up is understandable, but to continually send chit-chat to the list will cause your address to be put on "moderate" status which means that your messages will be held for "approval" before being forwarded to the List which may cause your messages or replies to be delayed for some time.
