To those who took offense at my e-mail to the St. Francois Co., Mo. list I apologize. I retract the following verbiage from my original e-mail: "After that the I would be lying if I thought the last 3 postings added anything of a genuine genealogical nature to the original question." Upon subsequent review, I found that these 3 statements contained valuable information regarding researching in St. Francois Co., Mo. and especially for the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Inc. firm (note: C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Inc. now have 3 establishments [Bonne Terre, Desloge and Leadwood, Mo.] because you now have 3 places to call to see if they ever had a fire or lost some records) Also for all the NASH researchers, now you now that the firm traced your lineage "way back." Not sure where "way back" is or was or when but now you know. 1. "I am not positive but to my knowledge, Boyer has never had a fire." 2. "I was there in June 2007, and they traced my NASH burials way back." 3. "Thank you - I think I checked with them years ago, and if my memory serves me right (it may not) seems like they told me they had a fire and some records were lost - but I'll again check my paper files." Also with regards to the following: "----- Original Message ----- From: jwhaleykzoo To: mostfran@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 30, 2010 10:02 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTFRAN] AndrewJacksonWallaceandwifeFrancesCarolineWilsonWallace In response to Euel B. Lyon's posting which is below, I want to state that I got a couple of ideas for my genealogical research from the general chatting. This was despite the fact that the people they were talking about have nothing to do with my research. What appears boring and useless to one person might actually have a point to someone else. I'd like for them to keep chatting in case I can glean something else. From my perspective, when in doubt, chat. Those who don't appreciate it can just delete it." Also regarding: "----- Original Message ----- From: Ruth Carver To: mostfran@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 30, 2010 10:15 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTFRAN]AndrewJacksonWallaceandwifeFrancesCarolineWilsonWallace Enough said, thank you. I thought it might help many others to know that Boyer never had a fire and that is a good place to do research. If we had been talking about what we had for dinner or perhaps what we plan to do tomorrow that is one thing but when chatting about the subject at hand, it can help many people and if it is of no interest to you, then use the delete button, that is what it is for. Ruth" I agree "gleaning" is good and one of the reasons that websites like St. Francois Co., Mo exists so subscribers can share GENEALOGICAL INFORMATION and I think we can agree that we may find something of interest to us even if it does not pertain to our own research and in some cases we find that it will directly or indirectly lead to us finding additional information about our main and peripheral lines of research. I think a lot of subscribers fail to realize or forget that" "Please note that all messages posted to this mailing list are also added to the list archives on RootsWeb.com" If one takes time to read the information that was available at the time the subscriber signed up for St. Francois Co., Mo. and remains available to the subscriber as long as they properly follow the guidelines provided by Rootsweb, then I believe one would see that talking about extraneous subjects just wastes other subscribers time and also uses up valuable storage space that Rootsweb has graciously provided to the web site - and that pertains to St. Francois Co., Mo. and Washington, Iron, Madison, Crawford, Jefferson, Ste. Genevieve Co.'s and all county's / parishes in the U.S.A. I hear what ya'll are saying but are you reading what ya'll should have read in the first place? By the way, I am eating crow for dinner. Euel B. Lyon Jr. p.s. If ya'll want to continue to nit pick and rant and rave when ya'll are not on solid ground. go ahead. As for me I have a life to lead and I am getting on with it. Happy researching and make sure you know who burned down and when. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ruth Carver To: mostfran@rootsweb.com I am not positive but to my knowledge, Boyer has never had a fire. Marlene ----- Original Message ----- From: Joyce D Wafford ograndma1@sbcglobal.net To: abkelly1@yahoo.com; mostfran@rootsweb.com Boyers Funeral Home in Bonne Terre has been very helpful with my NASH Family as well. I would definitely suggest checking with them or any of the other Funeral Directors in the area. Good luck with your research. Joyce Nash-Wafford Selma, CA
