    3. The Lead Belt News, Flat River, Mo., Friday, Dec. 31, 1943. NETTLETON A. MERRITT. Funeral services for Nettleton A. Merritt, long time resident of St. Francois County, were held at the Russell Chapel Methodist church three and one-half miles east of Cantwell Wednesday, December 29 at 2 p.m. During the service Harvey Ramsey and Miss Georgia Wood sang three hymns, "Jesus Blessed Jesus," "The Last Mile of the Way," and "No Disappointment in Heaven." They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Homer Inman. Rev. C. W. Griffin, pastor of the Desloge Methodist Church, read the scriptures and offered prayer. Rev. E. Clay Polk, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Campbell [Cantwell?], Mo., delivered the sermon. Interment was in the Russell Chapel Cemetery. C. Z. Boyer Service. Nettleton Abraham Merritt, son of the late John and Susan Shelley Merritt, was born east of Cantwell, June 22, 1864, and passed away at Cantwell, Dec. 27, 1943 age 79 years 6 months 5 days. Mr. Merritt spent his entire life in the community where he was born and reared. For the past 44 years, he made his home with the F. B. Conway family to which he was related. The many friends of the family extend their deep sympathy.
