    3. The Lead Belt News, Flat River, MO., January 18, 1933. FORMER BONNE TERRE BOY INJURED IN TEXAS. Leonard Meecey, son of Mrs. I. Scott Jones, of Bonne Terre, received very serious injuries New Year's Eve night when abducted, probably by bandits, who took his money. Mr. Meecey, who is employed in a bank in San Antonio, Texas, was celebrating at his home with his wife and children and some friends. He went to a nearby drug store for some fireworks and did not return. Early the next morning, he was found unconscious three miles out of the city by the side of the road. He had been run over by a car and was so disfigured as to be almost beyond recognition. He was taken to a hospital where he was found to be suffering from a skull fracture, a broken leg, and many lacerations on the face and lips. Two teeth had been knocked out. Mr. Meecey formerly lived in Bonne Terre and was an employee of the Lead Belt Bank there. His condition, though somewhat improved, is still serious.
