At that time, would you also send a general outline of the extended family - full names/dates of all children for James Cunningham, Sr.? - plus known spouses of his daughters (especially Lillian's). (Sometimes a mention might be made in a family member's will/probate that will show a connection.) You mentioned that this was the only Cunningham family, but did any of the Gillespie's move to the area? One last thing - did you check for details on Cunningham's Rev.
