    3. Thank you for posting this information!!!!  He is the half brother of my Nancy Conwy/Conway Walker Callahan.  Nancy's father, her brother, father's best friend all disappeared in Shannon Co between 1860 - 1864.  Charles' mother Mary Conwy/Conway Conwy/Conway went to St F Co by Oct 1864 and went over to marry a John L Haile in Iron Co.  These two could have had a child named Sarah who may have disappeared.  John L disappears also.   GW Conway was born in 1860,  His mother remarries in 1864.  This Charles is born in 1866 which is a gap of 6 years.  In the 1870 census there is a Haile family that could be this one, but it has a lot of errors.  The Sarah could have been only a child of the father.  I think I found a John L  with a child named Sarah in Ky.  Do not know if this is my John L.   My mother remembered this Charles and his half brother George Washington Conwy/Conway.  The two had a business.  George never married.  George had a clubfoot.  His sister's g granddaughter's son had it also, but it was corrected.  No one else in the family that I know of had it.   Alanna --- On Mon, 12/8/08, Melanie Rickmar <rickmar@cdinter.net> wrote: From: Melanie Rickmar <rickmar@cdinter.net> Subject: [MOSTFRAN] Rev. HALE Charles P. Hale, son of John and Mary Hale, was born in Iron County, Missouri, near Ironton, March 16, 1866, and departed this life at Flat River, Tuesday, March 21, 1939, at the age of 73 years 5 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Mollie Kathryn Morris, Jan. 25, 1885, and to them were born five children. Three, with the mother, have preceded him in death. For many years he was employed by the Lead Company as a diamond drill operator. After he was retired by the company he engaged in the mercantile business in Leadwood for some time. Early in life he was converted and gave himself to the Lord to keep and use. God called him to tell his story and many years were spent in preaching the word. He preached for the Church of God, holding many pastorates. For some time he was pastor of that church in Leadwood. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church and held pastorates at Doe Run and Old Germany. He was a successful pastoral evangelist and loved to hold revivals. Many are the Christian people of today that found the Lord under his preaching. He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters, Mrs. Early Upchurch of Leadwood and Mrs. Will Causey of Flat River; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, with a host of friends who say, "Farewell, servant of God, farewell. The good fight has been fought, the Faith and the Crown has been won, in Heavenly bliss thou shalt wear it on and on." Funeral services were held at the Leadwood Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m., Rev. W. C. Polson in charge, assisted by Rev. C. C. Carl. Burial in the Leadwood Cemetery. The I.O.O.F. Lodge of Leadwood was in charge of the service at the grave. 3. Kim,   I am another one who is interested in those areas and facts.  My Larkin Howard and Lucretia Watts Jones came to live with Larkin's aunt in Madison Co, MO.  Then they moved to Iron Mt for a while.  Larkin is buried in Doe Run.  Lucretia died about 1872 and is buried in KS.  I am assuming that she went there to visit and died there.  She had had a child about Ap 1869.  They should have been in the census for 1870 with the relatives, but they are not.  A specialist looked for me and could not find them.   I know that Larkin wrote to someone about living at the Iron Mt. and I believe his son, Wm Benjamin Jones lived there for a while also.   I also would like to see if John L and Mary Conway Conway Haile and their son, Charles Price Haile are there.  This John may have brought a daughter into the marriage or she could be a full sister to Charles.  This is the only place I ever heard of a sibling of Charles if she indeed part of the family or if the information is totally false.  But they went to Iron Co when they married, but lived somewhere in SF Co.   Alanna --- On Thu, 1/1/09, Kim Myers <genealogykim@hotmail.com> wrote:   Does anyone know if there was an 1876 census for St. Francois county?  If so, does anyone have access or can guide me on how to conduct research on the census.  I am looking for Harrington/Herrington and Laughlin/Loughlin families in Iron Mountain. 3. FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, November 22, 1900 OBITUARY Mr. Archer Jacob Palmer was born in Floyd County, West Virginia, March 18th, 1869, and died of typhoid fever at his residence in Bonne Terre, Missouri, November 11th, 1900, aged 31 years, 7 months and 24 days. On the 8th of March, 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Lucy Long at Bonne Terre, Mo. He leaves a wife, mother, sister and a brother to mourn his loss, besides a number of relatives and friends. When two years of age he removed with his parents from West Virginia to Missouri, where he lived until his death. Archer Palmer was a Christian, a devoted and loving husband, a man of kind and generous impulses and a faithful friend. He died where manhood's morning almost touches noon, while the shadows still were falling toward the West. He had not passed on life's highway the stone that marks the half-way place, and while still in love with life, enraptured with the world, he passed to silent and pathetic dust. And yet after all, it may best; just in the happiest, sunniest hour of all life's voyage, while eager winds are kissing every sail, to dash against the unseen rock, and in an instant hear the billows roar a sunken ship. For whether in mid-sea or among the breakers of the farther shore, a wreck must mark at last the end of each and all. J. S. G.

    1. [MOSTFRAN] Old Lang Home In Farmington To Be Torn Down For Car Wash (1964)

    3. FARMINGTON NEWS, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, May 14, 1964 OLD LANG HOME BEING TORN DOWN FOR COIN CAR WASH An old landmark was practically gone this week with the demolition of the big two-story home on East Columbia, which was occupied for many years by the late Misses Mary and Emma Lang. A self-service 25 [cent] coin wash is to be installed on the premises shortly with entrance from East Liberty street. Members of the Preferred Credit Acceptance Corporation, which owns the property, are H. Lee Wichman, Tom P. Fitz, Leslie Huber, Robert Rapp, Victor Quesnel, Charles Elder and Francis Carrow. The corporation's office is at 223 East Columbia, where Carrow has his insurance business. The razing of what was once a show place at the countyseat is being done by the Crites family at Doe Run. In taking the residence down oak two by fours and handmade nails were found to have been used when the house was erected in the 1800's. The Lang home sat far back from East Columbia with its grassy lawn and flowering shrubs and plants always well tended and lovely. The house was opposite the Lang wagon factory, noted throughout Missouri for its manufacture of durable wagons for all parts of the state. E. C. Robinson Lumber Co., now occupies the old Lang buildings. Farmers coming to Farmington to shop on Saturdays used to stop their horses, wagons, and buggies on East Liberty at the rear of the home. Entire families ate the lunches they had brought with them while nose bags containing grain were placed around the horses heads. Miss Irene Lang, 605 North Washington, also lived in the old home with her late father, Tom Lang, who was a brother of the Misses Lang. In recent years the Lang home had been a rooming house. Carrow says a small playground for children may be established on the site of the car wash for the benefit of families washing their automobiles.

    3. FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, October 24, 1901 AGED NINETY-THREE ________ "Grandma" Patterson Passes Away October 19, 1901 ________ Mrs. Nancy Patterson died last Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Matilda Horn, in Marion township, aged 93 years, four months and twenty-four days. Mrs. Patterson, whose maiden name was Poe, was born in what is now Ste. Genevieve county, May 25, 1808, and on arriving at womanhood was married to Alexander Patterson, who died leaving her a widow about forty years ago. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom, four daughters and one son, survive her, together with 40 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Patterson was a devoted and faithful member of the Southern Methodist Church, and a woman whose sterling worth and many loveable traits of character are cherished by her children, grandchildren, and the multitude of friends whom she drew about her in her long, eventful and useful life. Everybody knew her by the endearing name of "Grandma Patterson," and her last days were full of peace and contentment in the love of her children, whose mourning, though she may be sadly missed, must be turned into joy at the thought that she has but laid aside the vestures of feeble old age to put on the glorious garments of immortal youth. The funeral took place Sunday and the frail tenement of this good woman was laid at rest in the old family burying ground in Boyer's prairie.

    3. Grandma is a great loss to me personally as well as *genealogically* as she was the source of my interest as well as a storehouse of information about our ancestors. It was a joy to call her and pick her brain about various discoveries I made about our family tree. When I found out that her father had not married until he was 30, I asked why such an handsome man with his own farm had not wed earlier as was the custom then. She replied that she didn't know, but that he had his own buggy as if this was his most important quality! Look forward to meeting you at her wake tonight or her funeral tomorrow in Farmington if you are a local and are a friend or of near kin. -----Original Message----- From: B.
