Look at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic. It belongs to the Geographic Names Information System of the USGS. You can put in any city and state and find which county the city, town, railroad, airport, cemetery, park, is in. You may need to indicate that the city or town is a populated place. Clicking on the name of the place gives you some information about it such as: Blackwell is the second settlement in the county. You have a choice of several mapping features. They used to use Tiger Maps which were very useful (they showed county boundaries). So far I haven't been able to find a good substitute. Blackwell is north of Macon and southwest of St. Louis. I've found GNIS very useful to find places. If you want to use it, copy the above URL. Trying to copy it from the site gives you a URL that doesn't work. FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, August 8, 1901 Mr. Joseph Prichard of Marion township, while out in the barn yard on Wednesday of last week, was kicked by a year-old-past filly and two of his ribs broken. On account of his advanced years the injury is a serious one, but we learn that he is getting along as comfortably as could be expected. Mr. Prichard is the father of Mrs. Sam'l Asbury of this place.
FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Friday, May 27, 1909 Mr. J. Ed. Walker of Hillsboro, Mo., died at State Hospital No. 4 last Tuesday morning. Mr. Walker was brought to the Hospital several days before, feeble in body and his mind somewhat impaired. He was 65 years of age, a man of education and refinement, and was well known in Jefferson county, where he had long been engaged in clerical and abstract work in the several county offices. His wife, who died about fifteen years ago, was a daughter of the late Judge Philip Pipkin.
FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, October 30, 1909 JASPER TURLEY "Weary and tired lays down the clay, Light from its load the spirit flies, While heaven and earth combine to say, How blest the righteous when he dies." Jasper Turley was born in St. Genevieve County, in the year 1842. After 67 years he departed this life at Flat River, St. Francois County, only eight miles from the place where he was born. Indeed, in the same house where he was born, were all his children born. Eight children are yet living besides a wife and seven brothers and sisters. At 26 years of age he became a member of the Three Rivers Baptist Church, and was elected a deacon in the same. In this church, on July 24th, a large crowd of kindred and friends gathered to pay a last tribune of respect to the dead. Deacon Turley had often himself in years gone by officiated upon such occasions. And now after similar and affectionate services by others for him a long train of surreys and buggies and wagons filed slowly and sorrowfully over the hills to the cemetery and laid to rest the body of one whom they felt to have seen a righteous man, a good citizen, and a true servant of God. THEO. WHITFIELD, Pastor.
FARMINGTON TIMES, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri, Thursday, April 27, 1899 FATAL ACCIDENT IN A MINE Joseph Shearlock, a miner working for the Desloge Consolidated Lead Co., was accidentally killed in their mine last Monday morning, the 24th inst., and two Hungarian miners, whose names we have not learned, were seriously injured, one of the latter having his skull slightly fractured, besides receiving internal injuries, and the other having a hand so badly crushed that it had to be amputated. Mr. Shearlock was engaged in removing loose rock from the roof of the mine, and started to prize out what he supposed was a small section of loosed rock, but which proved to be a mass extending almost from pillar to pillar. Seeing the danger, he jumped from the ladder to run out from beneath it, but before he could escape the rock fell and caught him and the two Hungarians, killing him and injuring the others as related.

It is supposed the shot was fired by Aubrey Bailey, a miner, who was shooting a pistol in that neighborhood. An inquest was held by the Coroner and a verdict of accidental killing rendered.
