    3. My relative was very wealthy, but did not list births or deaths of his children.  This would have been in the 1880's.  His m-i-law of his second wife must have had a set of triplets and a set of twins, but no record except for a couple of clues.  She lived in Wayne and St Francois, and Iron.  This would have been after 1872.   Alanna --- On Sat, 8/21/10, Debbie <henson_descendant@yahoo.com> wrote: Thanks to Robert King for contributing these obituaries Boyer Buckner Caviness Center Duncan Eaton Pratte Whitaker http://genealogytrails.com/mo/stfranc/ Some Death Certificates to come and other obituaries, keep checking  back and if you have any data: obits, bios, death certificates,  newspaper articles or headstone transcriptions please feel free to send  to me. 1. [MOSTFRAN] BLISS Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two photographs which belong to the BLISS Family. The first is one of Alice BLISS which was taken at the Nix Studio in Bonne Terre, Missouri. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Alice appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "Uncle Ellis BLISS'S wife" and "son of N. W." on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is one of Wyllys BLISS Jr. which was taken at the Smith Studio in Chicago, Illinois. This photograph was likely taken in the 1890's with Wyllys less than 1 year old at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "Son of Wyllys BLISS of Chicago" and "died very young" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Alice and her family: Ellis Wright BLISS married Alice HOMAN on 23 April 1889 in Potosi, MO. In addition to these photographs I also recovered some related photographs from the same source and mention them just in case they provide a clue. Bradford Dan CLARKE - Detroit, MI "Aunt Susan's son" and "Sister of N.W. BLISS" (1890's - man in his 20's or 30's) Ned BAUGHN - Chicago, IL "brother of Mrs. N. W. BLISS" and "my great uncle" (1880's - man in his 30's) Geo. BALDWIN - Boston, MA "cousin of N. W. BLISS" (Jan 1888 - man in his 50's) I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. WOW, Big, Giant Thank YOU!!!!!   My computer has been down over a week and am just back up 08/13 pm!!!   I have found some of what you have posted already, but was not sure if the information was correct or not.   Christell was my grandmother's younger sister.  My mother who was one of the last children of my grandmother, thought that Christell had died around the age of 18.   In my mother's photo album that she had received from either her mother or far older sister and I would guess from her mother, there are pictures of James, Christell, baby, and Aunt Margie.   I need to get rid of 1K emails plus new ones coming in.  So, I will get back to you off the list, but give me some time, PLEASE!!!!   Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!   Alanna --- On Tue, 8/10/10, n sam hill <nsamhill@charter.net> wrote: From: n sam hill <nsamhill@charter.net> Subject: Re: [MOSTFRAN] James Vance & Christell Calahan To: mostfran@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 9:05 AM I think the following person is who you are looking far but I cannot give you 100% assurance but it may point you in the right direction. It is possible that James Vance was born circa 1869 in Crawford Co., Mo. to Elijah Vance (1833-1911) of. Va. or W.V. and Mary Elizabeth Harman (circa 1836/1840-????) of Va. or W.V and his name on the 1870 census is "Joshua Vance." By 1880, "Joshua" is now called "James K." Vance and he is living with his parents and siblings in Washington Co., Mo. I am not sure where "Joshua i.e. James K." Vance is in 1900 but by 1901 he is married and living in St. Francois Co., Mo. James Vance married Christell L. Calahan on 4/14/1903 at "Mr. Liars Calahan" house in St. Francois Co., Mo. It is possible that Christell died prior to 1906 because I think that James Vance married Frankie Kirby of Leadwood on 4/11/1906 at Flat River, Mo. St. Francois Co. He is now called "James J. Vance." James J. Vance and Frances (Francis) Kirby Vance lived in St. Francois Co., Mo. for the 1910 and 1920 censuses. It appears that they had 3 children before 1920 while they lived there - Durwood (1909), Kirby (1912), and Ruby (1915) Vance. By 1930, the Vance family had moved to Hutchinson Co., Tx. The 1930 census shows that Frances is a widow and head of the household. Living with her are Durwood, Kirby, Ruby and Geneva (1923) Vance. Geneva was born in Mo. so the Vance family evidently moved to Texas between 1923-1930. I found no other information except that Elijah Vance is buried in the Shirley Union Church Cemetery in Washington Co., Mo. If I can be of further assistance, just drop a not here on the website and we can go off-line if needed to continue the investigation of the Vance family. By the way, Elizah Vance was first married to Mary Elizabeth Harman but he also married Rosa Belle Stinson on 9/25/1897 in Washington Co., Mo. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alanna L Scanlon To: mostfran@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2010 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [MOSTFRAN] Brian Oster's Early Marriage Website Thank you.
