That's all I can remember. Sorry. Check the census, he was a boarder in the other state. We figured that his wife didn't know if they would be moving or not so they counted him as being in Mo. This was one of the few cases I found this happened. I hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Mayernik" <rmayer@3rivers.net> To: "Missouri Genealogy" <MOSTFRAN@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2010 5:07 PM Subject: [MOSTFRAN] Kamer/ Komar > Hello- > > My paternal Great Grandfather, John KOMAR resided in St. Francios > County Missouri (maybe Bonne Terre) . . . on the 1900 census for St. > Francios County his occupation is written as "bar loader in lead > mine." Hello Don -- Guess what? I am the guy that you helped for this family. I resubmitted my query now thinking I might find out something new. I don't remember that North Carolina was part of the their destination points. Might have been New York as my grandmother might of been born there (Newburgh) Oh yes I am in Montana and the Komar family also. Thank you, Rick
I have no connection to the Komar family but a remark Don made sparks my interest, the remark about being a boarder in another State. Was it perhaps Colorado by chance? I found my husband's great grandfather as a boarder in Colorado and the rest of the family here in Missouri, have forgotten the year off the top of my head, will have to look it up. There were several male boarders at the location and I wonder if they went there for gold mining or something. Any ideas anyone? Would appreciate everyone's thoughts. About a year and a half ago, I did some research on this man and his family. I no longer have that paper work as I did it for another decendent of John's Off the top of my head with what I remember, John and his wife with children came from North Carolina to Missouri about 1887 where he found work in the mines. He did live in Bonne Terre, Mo but later moved to I think Nebraska not positive about the state however, in the census he was counted in both states. John went ahead to find work before bringing his family on the move . The man I helped with this was a direct decendent as well. And he lived in the same town where John and his family moved. Hello- My paternal Great Grandfather, John KOMAR resided in St. Francios County Missouri (maybe Bonne Terre) . . . on the 1900 census for St. Francios County his occupation is written as "bar loader in lead mine." What was his duty? In the census the surname is written as Kamer not Komar. This is a long shot....would there be mining records available? Also, any help with this family is appreciated. Parents of John and his wife Mary REPKO, date, place of marriage, etc. thank you, Rick Mayernik
After 30 years I've figured it's time to do an update on the Caulley Book. I'm planning to get started and include as many branches as I can. The book will start with the family Matriarch, Sally Finley who was named in Caniel Corley's will. The descendants lived in Ohio (Lawrence, Scioto, Jackson and Gallia Counties using the surnames of Caulley & Colley) and Missouri (Reynolds and Iron Counties using the surname Caulley & Cauley) The title will be ALL HER CHILDREN THE DESCENDANTS OF SALLY FINLEY: ALL OF WHOM TOOK THE SURNAME CORLEY, OR ONE OF ITS MANY VARIATIONS The book will NOT be hard bound. In fact, I envision a book in a binder so pages can easily be removed and copied. I will include many copies of census pages, military records and other interesting "Primary Source" documents. If you are interested please send me an email directly at tcaulleysgenmail@yahoo.com and I will send you an outline of the book AND a family group sheet to be completed for the book. I don NOT plan on making a profit with this book. This is "a labor of love" and all I expect to do is recoup what I put into the book. I do not know how much it will cost at this time.
