Ste. Genevieve Herald Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Saturday, Oct. 7, 1882 Mrs. MENARD's old pear tree is blooming the second time this season. Geo. KUHN paid $2700 for Cornelius ARNOLD's place, and not $1700 as was reported last week. Michael ARNOLD raised 2,700 bushels of wheat this season from 80 bushels of seed. About 40,000 persons are said to have attended the St. Louis Fair on Tuesday. Mr. VIEH has probably raised the largest pumpkin we have seen. It has the shape of a keg and would hold 10 gallons or more. A very enthusiastic BURKS man is said to have remarked the other day that God Almightly himself could not beat BURKS. How is that for a stron candidate? The question for the people of this county to decide is whether trickery and fraud shall dictate the nominations of their public officers. M.L. CLARDY is going to address the people of this county at St. Mary Oct. 9th at 7 o'clock P.M., at Zell Oct. 10th at 12 o'clock P.M., and at Ste. Genevieve Oct 10th, at 7 o'clock P.M. L.D. THURMAN, Roman HUCK, J.J. WILSON, W.V. SKEWES, and Mrs. FESER will leave for Springfield, ILL. tomorrow, summoned as witnesses in a U.S. case to be tried at that place.
