    3. Ste. Genevieve Herald Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Saturday, Oct. 21, 1882 Jacob MEDER will sell his farm near Punjab (120 acres, 53 cleared, with cistern and well) and stock for $800. Chas. ROY's trial for perjury at Perryville was postponed until next May Term of Court, on the account of the absence of some of the witnesses. CHARLES C. ROZIER RESIGNED On last Wednesday, Oct. 18, Mr. C.C. ROZIER sent in his resignation as a member of the Democratic County Central Committee, to take effect from and after that date. "Democrat" in the F.P. holds that ZIEGLER who has performed the duties of Collector for the last two years is not entitled to the salary of the office, but that it belongs to Mr. LeCOMPTE who has done more of it's duties but has been engaged in his own business. This doctrine has the merit of novelty at least. We wonder what Mr. LeCOMPTE thinks of this. With regard to the charges by Burksmen against ZIEGLER at St. Mary, that he failed to collect from several persons in the county, we have to say that iti is all bosh. Mr. ZIEGLER collected all taxes that were legally assessed against Mr. ROZIER, Mrs. VALLE, Mr. ST. GEM. Everybody knows that Mr. ZIEGLER cannot collect taxes on the Iron Mountain Stock that is yet in Court and undecided, and on bonds that were decided by the Court not to be assessable. Whoever does not believe these statements, will please step up to the Court House and see for himself. Mr. ST. GEM has paid his taxes, of which Mr. C.C. ROZIER, Mr. GUIGNON and others are witnesses. Mr. ZIEGLER cannot be blamed here at all, as he could do nothing but put the names of the above people on the delinquent list because they refused to pay and tried the case in court.
