Ste. Genevieve Herald, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, Sat., March 13, 1886. NEW BREMEN BREVITIES. [By One of Them] Oat sowing will soon begin. We are glad to hear that Dr. Byrne is convalescing. John Dallas' sale last Saturday was well attended and articles of sale brought good prices. Our jovial Sheriff, Leon Jokerst, was at the sale last Saturday and we had the chance of a hearty shake with him and some other old friends. Henry Roth had a chopping frolic last Monday; the choppers had a grand old time during the day and, after supper, the young folks had a general hop. Henry knows how to set them up. Call again, Henry. The report goes that our friend Peter Rigdon and his brother-in-law, Thomure, caught two surprisingly large fishes in the mill pond one day last week. The two specimens of the finny tribe tried to swim across the pond, but mired when they came near the bank and Mr. Rigdon, hearing them splash and flounder in the water, brought his wagon and pulled them out. One of them weighed about 120 pounds and the other about 160. Odd fish!
