The annual Christmas DNA sale from FTDNA has started this year. If you have considered testing your or someone elses DNA, this is the time to do it. There are three types of testing offered by FTDNA. But the one that is featured as the best bargain this time of year is th yDNA test. This is the test that looks at the part of the DNA that is handed down from father to son generation after generation. To be a part of the Moses DNA project, you would want to order a kit for a male of any age who carries the Moses surname or who believes that his biological father is a male who descends from a Moses line. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions. [email protected] And pass the news on to anyone who might have an interest. Moses and his wife Emeline. Both lived in MIssissippi, Hinds county area. They were married around 1842. They died around 1878/79 John I believe came from Georgia. I've only been able to find a small amount of information in the census and slave schedules. I am interested in finding out if the family had a slave named Harriet. Author: jeanieluigi Surnames: Moses Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/1009/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on how I might best proceed. My ggg-grandparents immigrated from Wales around 1832-34 and lived in Carbondale. We know my gg-grandmother, Anna was born there in 1836. Her parents were Daniel and Hattie Moses. In 1840 there is another Daniel and Martha Moses living in Carbondale, and I've wondered if perhaps they are not related. I find another Daniel Moses in the 1840 census in Clifford PA, nearby that fits the family composition and wonder if that isn't my Daniel Moses. The family migrates to Wisconsin shortly after this time, Hattie dying enroute, and Daniel dying before the next 1850 census....so no records and no male descendents that survived. 3 daughters (one my gg-grandmother) survived. Daniel was a coal miner. A letter from his daughter indicates that Daniel also had a widowed brother (whose name or his son's name was David Moses) who lived in Carbondale and that Hattie had a sister, Regina who lived there. I ha! ve reached a dead end in trying to find out more about this family, including their town of origin in Wales. Any thoughts on how I might pursue this further? My most distant Moses ancestor is Hans Simon Moses b. abt 1637, d. 22 Feb 1712 in Pfalz, Germany.
