Hello subscribers, Now that Rootsweb is back and mostly functional again, I have a bunch of links to pass along to message board posts about Joshua Moses. Most of them are in the "Re: Joshua Moses, Whitley County, Kentucky" thread. In order of chronological posting they are: <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.10/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.2.2.1.2.1.2/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.10.1/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.2.2.1.2.1.2.1/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.9.1/mb.ashx> In conversational thread order they are: <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.9.1/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.10/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.10.1/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.2.2.1.2.1.2/mb.ashx> <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/937.2.2.1.2.1.2.1/mb.ashx> And last but certainly not least, Jan's post about her book, subject line "My history books on Joshua Moses": <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/1035/mb.ashx> If you wish to read any of these messages or to reply directly to them, please click on the links above. If you get an error message indicating a failure to retrieve the message, try refreshing the page. These error messages are popping up regularly, but they appear to be very transient -- at least that's what I'm finding while using Firefox. Of course, you're always welcome to discuss Joshua Moses, or any other Moses line, right here on the list as well. -- Mary D. Taffet List & Board admin for MOSES

If you wish to actually read the message, please click on the link. However, if you just want to see the item that the post is referring to, here is the direct link that won't require you to navigate all the pages on that site: <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~t42cemeteries/Texas/Parker/Vietnam/P1240045.JPG> This obviously involves an item related to Parker County, Texas. But instead of being a photo of an actual tombstone, it is a photo showing a section of what appears to be a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. -- Mary D. Taffet List & Board admin for MOSES

Hello subscribers, The gateway between the message boards and mailing lists is still having issues due to the styled messages in HTML format now coming from the message boards. So for now the only way to inform the mailing list about the message board posts is to send a manual notice that includes a link. The following link: <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/682.1.2/mb.ashx> leads to a message with the subject line "Re: Thomas Moses b abt 1879 Cumberland, UK". If you wish to read the message, please click on the link. If you find these messages with the link useful, I'll continue to send them. -- Mary D. Taffet List & Board admin for MOSES
Hello subscribers, Due to a major change in how message board posts are formatted and sent, the gatewayed message board posts that are now being addressed to the mailing lists are no longer being delivered easily. Until the system gets changed so that it can handle the new message format of emailed message board posts, I have little choice but to simply post a link to any new message board posts here to the list. The following link: <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/1026/mb.ashx> leads to a message with the subject line "Al & Maxine Moses of Wyoming". If you wish to read the message, please click on the link. Hopefully they'll get this sorted out before too long... -- Mary D. Taffet List & Board admin for MOSES
This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: HEL218 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.moses/1025.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: He appears to be buried here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=36833980&ref=acom (note the Findagrave entry states he was born about 1831, but the actual grave says he died 1895 at 68 years, meaning he was born about 1827). His wife appears to be Ila Minerva Moses. They married after 1864 (when her first husband Seth died). See her grave here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52035575 This appears to be Milton and his wife in the 1880 census in Kennedale, Tuscaloosa, AL: --MILTON MOSES, head, age 49. Born about 1831 TN to parents born in GA (father) and AL (mother). Occupation: farmer. (Note that the actual handwritten census does say he was 49, meaning he was born about 1831 like the supposedly incorrect Findagrave entry. So either the census is off or his gravestone is off) --MANERVIA (sp.) MOSES, wife, age 54. Born about 1826 AL to parents born in AL --M. H. MOSES, daughter, age 21. Born about 1859 AL --H. M. MOSES, daughter, age 12. Born about 1868 AL --HOLLACE (misspelling for Hollis) MOSES, son, age 10. Born about 1870 AL He's also in the 1870 census in Tuscaloosa, AL at age 42 with the following family members. Their relationship to him aren't listed, but they appear to be his wife and kids based on the above census. I think they just listed Minerva's name as Mary. --MARY MOSES, age 42 --HOLLIS MOSES, 6 months, b. about 1870 (mentioned above in 1880 census) --HELEN M. MOSES, age 2, b. about 1868 (mentioned above in 1880 census as H.M. MOSES) --JAMES M. MOSES, age 6, b. about 1864 AL --JEFFERSON D. MOSES, age 9, b. about 1861 AL --ANN C. MOSES, age 11, b. about 1859 AL --BALUS J MOSES, age 14, b. about 1856 AL *Based on the ages of some of these individuals, like Balus, it is likely that Milton was married before Minerva and these are her step-children. BALUS MOSES (actual name BAYLAS) appears to be buried here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=64394912 while his daughter Lillie is buried in the same place as Moses Milton, here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=moses&GSiman=1&GScid=261273&GRid=36828273& Death record for HOLLIS MILTON MOSES states he was born about 1868 and died March 8, 1952, son of MILTON MOSES and LANERVEE BOWEN--either a misspelling for Minerva, or this is an alternate name she used. Robin Sterling Bob Edge I was going thru some Fayette Co., GA information and something jumped out at me. I've seen a few places that Thomas G. Vickery's first wife was Sarah East. Is it possible she was actually an Eason? Thoughts? Terry Jackson
