    3. Hello subscribers, I don't have as much time to spend on genealogy and the mailing lists as I used to, so I haven't yet had an opportunity to ask if any of the subscribers would be interested in having another mailing list hosted by groups.io, which is what most of the current Rootsweb mailing lists are switching to. 1. [MOSES] MOSES mailing list is back in operation
    2. Mary D. Taffet
    3. Hello subscribers, You may be aware that some time ago, most of Rootsweb was taken offline so that the software, and perhaps the hardware, running the various resources could be upgraded.  The mailing lists have been back for a while now, under new mailing list software. For this new system, you will have to re-register in order to send a message to the mailing list, unless you have already done so since March.  Instructions for re-registering can be found here: <http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/listsHelp> The old mailing list archives will be restored at some point, but once there are new messages to archive, the new mailing list archive will be created and functional. I invite all mailing list subscribers to post their research interests for the Moses surname. -- Mary D. Taffet    List admin for MOSES mailing list

    1. [MOSES] AAGAARD - MOSES Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel via
    3. I've "rescued" a group of photographs belonging to the AAGAARD and RASTER Families of Illinois. The photographs include: Winifred Ruth AAGAARD - taken at the Geo. F. England Studio in Chicago, IL in the 1890's - Winifred about 1 year old Ray AAGAARD and Arthur AAGAARD - taken at the M. B. Lonergan Studio in Chicago, IL in 1890's - boys about 2-4 years old Edwin RASTER - no studio or location noted taken in 1900's - probably in his 40's at the time - note Lenore's Father and he died in 1926 when 55 years old I believe that Lenore RASTER married Arthur AAGAARD and that is the connection between the photographs. The AAGAARD Family owned the AAGAARD Laundry Company on Root Street in Chicago for many years. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the families as follows: Winifred Ruth AAGAARD was b. 25 Feb 1898 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Julius AAGAARD (b. 28 Nov 1857 in Germany-d. 1937) and Abigail "Abby" or "Abbie" T. MOSES (b. 1859 or 1860 in Wisconsin-d. 1930). Winifred was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Johanna C.; Arthur H.; Raymond; Marguerite; and Winifred Ruth AAGAARD, all born between 1888 and 1898. Winifred married George Frederick PARSONS (1900-1985). Winifred and George appear to only have had one child who was born and died in 1930 in Rye, NH. Winifred died in Nov 1979 in Concord, NH and they are all buried together in the Rye Central Cemetery in Rye, NH. Arthur Hildeman AAGAARD was b. 14 Dec 1890 Chicago, IL to Julius and Abigail T. AAGAARD and married Lenore R. RASTER (1899-1987) and together they had three children including a Jeanette Lenore AAGAARD (1940-1966); Marguerite (b. 4 Aug 1928); and Eric Edwin (b. 23 Apr 1931) AAGAARD all born in Chicago, IL. Arthur was teaching at the University of Wisconsin in Madison when he registered for the draft in 1917. By the 1942 draft registration Arthur was back in Chicago, IL operating the family laundry business. Arthur died 5 Jan 1975 in Westwood, CA. Ray AAGAARD was b. 30 Sept 1889 in Chicago, IL and listed his occupation as Construction Superintendent when he registered for the draft in 1917. Ray married Geneva KERN on 5 Dec 1919 in Chicago, IL. Edwin Otto Stanton RASTER was b. 26 Sept 1871 in Chicago, IL to parents Frederick Herman or Hermann RASTER (1827-1891) and Margarethe OPPENHEIM or OPPHEIM (1848-1908). Edwin was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Anna Gertrud; Edwin Otto Stanton; Anna Sophia; and Walter Berthold RASTER, all born between 1870 and 1875. Edwin married Antonia or Antoinette Marie BRUCKER (1874-1929) in Chicago, IL on 19 Sept 1896 and together they had two children, Lenore (1899-1987) and Elizabeth (1910-1996). Edwin died 26 Mar 1926 in Chicago, IL. Census records provide the following details: 1880 census of Chicago, IL: Herman RASTER, age 56, an Editor, born Germany, parents born Germany Margret RASTER, wife, age 32, Keeps House, born Germany, parents born Germany Edward RASTER, son, age 8, born IL Anna RASTER, dau, age 6, born IL Walter RASTER, son, age 4, born IL + 3 Servants 1900 census of Chicago, IL: Julius AAGAARD, age 42, born Nov 1857, married 12 years, born Germany, parents born Germany, to USA 1874, a Laundryman Abbie AAGAARD, wife, age 40, born Nov 1859, married 12 years, 4 children/4 living, born WI, parents born NY Ray AAGAARD, son, age 10, born Sept 1889, born IL, at School Arthur H. 3. You might need to hit refresh on your browser a couple of times for it to show up, but it will eventually show up. It just now showed up for me after hitting refresh on my browser twice. Also, I know that there are issues using the Firefox browser if you have windows open to Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com at the same time. For some reason, when that happens, the Rootsweb side doesn't work, leading to a "Bad Request" error message. In that case, you either need to close all Firefox windows and try again, or switch to a different browser for one of the sites. Also you could try going directly to the Moses message board and then look at new posts that way, thus avoiding the links entirely. -- Mary On 4/17/2016 8:49 PM, Theresa A.
