Mosely and family. According to the 1920 Census, he was born in Wisconsin, married to a Caroline, had 3 children, all female. Seldon was 44 in 1920. Also according to the census, one of the daughters was Helen Mosely, along with an Emma and an Amy. My grandmother was born in Clara Barton's Hospital, Green Bay, Wisconsin, February 12, 1924. It was a home for unwed mothers, as it was absolutely unacceptable at the time. According to the information my grandmother sent for in 1949, a woman by the name of Mrs. S.D. Mosely wrote to the "Children's Home" at 702 South Webster Street in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Mrs. Mosely explained there was a young lady of her acquaintance who needed help because she was pregnant. The report on receiving on the front of her case file gave the name of the child born as Helen Caroline Brown. The mother, also Helen C. Brown, was born at Marshfield, Wisconsin, American by nationality, and a baptist. Occupation was a nurse, and residence at that time was Marshfield, Wisconsin. Helen Mosely would have been the correct age to be the mother of my grandmother, the coincidence in the family names may be a key into finding my great grandmother's lineage. I found the Moselys on the 1930 census, the children were no longer living in the home, and as I have no other information to go on, I cannot locate any of the others in the family, they were all female and most likely remarried and gained new names. My grandmother was eventually adopted legaly and finally in 1925 by Erwin and Lenora Raddant Rohloff. I recently contacted the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services and they could not offer me any more information after their own records search, so I am hoping the Mosely name can be a big help. Anything is a start!
