Trish: I don't have anything more on William A. Smith. William Smith, father of Jefferson B., was b. 20 Nov 1801, eastern shores of MD, d. 28 April 1879 near Memphis, MO, bur. Buskirk Cemetery, Scotland Co., MO. His wife Sarah O. (maiden name unknown) was b. about 26 May 1804, MD, d. 10 Dec 1872, bur. Buskirk Cemetery. Nancy B., widow of Jefferson B. Smith, guardian of William A. and Caroline Smith, was listed in the probate record of William Smith. Others named were William D. Smith, Margaret H. Baker, James T. Smith, Edward J. Smith, Alexander C. Smith, and Albert T. Smith. Robert T. Smith, b. ca. 1847, was listed in the William & Sarah Smith household in the 1850 census but was not in the 1860 and was not mentioned in the probate record. I hope this will be some help to you.
