Named by Hon. S. W. B. Carnegy, now of Canton, in honor of the land of his ancestors. He surveyed and named the town of Edinburg in this county, and also the town of Edina, in Knox County. The first courts in Scotland were held at Sand Hill, but in 1843, the county seat was located at Memphis. NOTE: This book was originally published in 1888. My reprint is from 1970.
