Hello - I'm Sandi Gorin; my daughters are kin to Henry Madison Gorin and his wife, Mary Ann Love who lived and are buried in Memphis, MO and for whom Gorin, MO is named. I am wondering if anyone on the list can be of a help. I am currently finishing up another book on the family of Henry and Sarah Pell Gorin of Fairfax Co VA of whom Henry Madison Gorin is descended and am looking for two pieces of information. Henry Madison Gorin and his partner Charles Mety operated a mercantile in Memphis MO for many years. I just found reference to the Mety and Gorin Mill, the first wool mill at Memphis. Is there anything in any of the Scotland Co history books about this mill, or a photo of same? I am also looking for a photograph/portrait (anything!) of Henry M and Mary Ann Love Gorin or any of their children or of their cemetery stones. Many of this line moved to the silver mine area of NV and on to CA. If you are related to this line, I would be more than happy to share data or do any lookup for any of you who have roots in Barren Co KY. Thanks so much! Sandi Col. Kathy, no I haven't seen the book! I used to live in Belleville, IL and was able to make one trip to the area in 1972 when I was brand new to research. My late husband's family lived early in Louisiana, Pike, MO. and we were unable to get to Memphis on the trip. Is there anyway I could beg you to scan those pages? Back in the early 1970's a gentlemen in Memphis sent me a photo of John D Gorin (my dau's immediate line) from the Memphis Lodge - Mr. Dodge? It's been so long. This is to be used in a family book on the descendants of the Henry and Sarah Pell Gorin line - one branch, that of Henry Madison Gorin, moved from Christian Co KY to Christian Co IL to Macon Co IL to Louisiana, MO to Memphis, MO. This would mean the world to me. I'm on a deadline to get this book done for a couple of the descendants who are not in good health. I would be thrilled if you could help; and the only way I can think to say thank you is to donate a copy of the book to the Memphis library or help one of you with research in the area of KY I live in. Thanks for any consideration! Is this book still available for purchase? I can't splurge much, but with so many ties to the area, would sometime like to get a copy. Sandi
