I am also looking for the reason that John McArdle divorced Rebecca, Martin's mother, in Scotland Co, MO rather than in Indiana. This county is adjacent to Lee/Henry counties in Iowa where members of McArdle family seemed to gravitate -- Horatio & Collins settled there from Virginia in 1836; Charles & family lived in VanBuren Co in 1860; Rebecca returned to Lee co to deliver two of her children & was here for the 1860 census; daughter, Electra, married in Lee co in 1847 -- why???
