Author: hisemh Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.scotland/1217.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: A long time ago, about 15 years or so, I took pictures in two cemeteries, one in Iowa and one in Missouri. When I got home, to California, I labeled the pictures and apparently I have labelled them incorrectly. I think that my Newberry/Newbery family members were probably buried in the Oakland-Meeks Cemetery in Iowa. However, I can't seem to find them there either. They were from Clark County, Missouri, so that's why I became confused. Thank you for your reply. I though I had found them but now they are lost once more. Below are my very brief notes of the document. I guess I never transcribed it. BUT I can take a digital picture of it and send it over if you would like. LAND: John H. and Alcinda Crum Fulk were living in Livingston County, Missouri and relinquished land. Names mentioned - Jacob Faulk, Rachel Fulk, widow of John Fulk, dec'd, late of Highland County...land originally owned by Phillip Rhoads. Seems like I remember plat records are online at the Scotland County USGENWEB site, so you might be able to find where your Philip lived by checking that out. You need to check land records, if you have not already. Kathie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Rhoades family of the Sing Spring, Ohio area. 1800 - 1835ish Joseph W. was the son of Philip Rhoads. Joseph married Lydia Roush. Several of their sons enter Sinking Springs as their birth place. A metropolitan area like Sinking Spring is a bit hard for me to get to know. Do you know if there are any plat maps or anything where I may be able to locate info on where my Rhoads/Rhoades folks lived? Or if you have run across them in your search? Smile lots! Can anyone tell me if there are any cemetery records that would tell more about who this John Newbery was? Or, does anyone have information about him? My ancestor, John Smith Newberry/Newbery/Newbury, was born according to records, in either 1814 or 1816, and died 1859 in Des Moines, Lee County, Iowa. Actually, his son, John Marshall Newberry, is buried in the Black Oak Cemetery as are other members of the family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. The Black Oak cemetery records do not list anyone by the name of Newbery (or variations) and I don't find that name in any other Scotland Co. cemetery listing. If the names have been accidentally left out of the cemetery records, we need to verify the information so the records can be corrected. Thanks. J. Aylward

My GG Grandmother, Luvina G. Sayers married Cyrus Lyens Hyde in Scotland County, Missouri, on 22 Nov 1855. Cyrus and Luvina lived near Brock in Union Township. 1860 and 1870 census records indicate she was born in Ohio. She died in Scotland County on 1 Mar 1875 and is buried in Brock Cemetery. Her obituary gives no clues as to her parents or siblings. I've suspected a link to the James Sayre you mention (whose land appears on various plat maps), but have not been able to find evidence to support that.
