Alva and wife Birdie are found in 1920 and 1930 in Kansas City. Would appreciate any information on this family.

    3. Scotland Co. was organized in 1841, so the courthouse records begin with that year. From 1834 to 1841, Scotland Co. was part of Benton Township of Lewis County, which also included what is now Knox County. The marriage record for Thomas Loe and Lydia Lyle may be in Lewis County. 1. Re: [MOSCOTLA] William Troth
    2. We rather think that the Mattie Cotton who married William Troth is possibly the daughter of James Decatur Cotton and Louisa Comley Rude Cotton but only find Mattie as married to George Cotton in the 1880 census with two infant sons Nathan and John. But if this is the case George Cotton is most likely her first cousin by John Butler Cotton . George and Mattie's son John's obituary states he born in Memphis and that he was one of four children of George and Mattie Cotton but in 1880 the family was actually living in Folker Township, Clark Co. , Missouri and John was only 26 days old. Then I find John's mother listed in his household in Putnam Co., Missouri in 1930 but as Matilda Cotton . Her first marriage was at age 21 but where is the question? Gail

I suspect this is the William Troth to whom you refer: ....................................................... Billy (William Travis) Troth, son of William Troth and Elizabeth Grady, was born in Highland County, Ohio on October 20, 1814. At an early age, while in Ohio, he became a wagon maker and a carpenter. In 1835 he moved from Ohio to Indiana and three years later, in October of 1838 moved to Scotland County Missouri where he obtained 160 acres of land. He is known to have lived in Scotland County "at the top of the hill west of Snake Lake where the road to Lawn Ridge turns south". Later his property was known as the "Otis & Stella Parish Place". Billy added to his original 160 acres till he eventually held 1400 acres in the county, most of which he gave to his children. He was once a Magistrate and also held two consecutive terms as Postmaster at the Wyaconda Post Office which was located at his farm (This "Wyaconda P.O." not to be confused with the town of "Wyaconda" in Clark County). He was a member of the Christian Church and a Republican. About 1837-1838 he married Eliza A. Ruse probably in Indiana. Eliza A. Ruse was born about 1815-1820. She died in 1848 in Scotland County, Missouri. About 1849-1850 in Missouri he married Annie Billups. Annie Billups was born in Virginia about 1823. She died about 1862 in Scotland County, Missouri. About 1865 in Missouri he married Sarah C. Sharp. Sarah C. Sharp was born about 1815-1825. Before 1865 she had been married to __ Fisher. On September 8, 1885 in Missouri he married Mattie. Mattie was born in Clark County, Missouri about 1815. Before 1885 she had been married to __ Cotton. Billy died in Missouri. He was buried at the Old Billups Cemetery in Scotland County, Missouri. This cemetery is northeast of the location of "Clay Point" School. .........................
