I have tried the major on line book sellers with no luck. My great great grandfather was Samuel Brookhart who was born in Fairfield Co Ohio in 1829 and died in Mercer Co Ohio in 1916. I have never been able to determine who Samuels father was, but believe that he may be a descendant of Abraham who settled in nearby Athens co. in 1811. I was fascinated to learn that Abraham served in the Revolutionary War. I have come across many references to Abraham in my research, but had never come across any previous references to Revoutionary War service. Any help with the Whitman book or any leads regarding Samuel would be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Jim Brookhart

That's a 40 yr. gap. Ada's parents were Gibson Marion Harbur and Martha Ellen Bryant. Maybe you can find them in the census. I'd rather think that Maria and Gibson were bro. & sis. since he was b 1852 making Maria an aunt to Ada. Ken Kothe
Maria Stevens married Archibald Perry Harbur in Scotland County on 31-Mar-1870. Archibald died in 1908, and then Maria married Calvin Webber. There are some Prewitts also in Knox County which is just south of Scotland. I found this out while searching for my own Prewitt/Pruett lines. J.A. Gordon is listed as a Scotland Co. doctor [no date given] in "Town Called Memphis" (Dodge), date of diploma 2 June 1896, received at Kansas City, MO. J.A. Gordon is also listed in the same book as a student at the Northeast Missouri Business College at Memphis during the winter of 1891-1892. If this isn't your ancestor, you might check the records at Keokuk, IA. Several Scotland Co. doctors in the early years received their training at Keokuk.
