    3. So if you see a gray Honda minivan wandering aimlessly around in a couple of weeks you'll know its me. ;-) About how many minutes does it take to get from, say, Memphis, to Rutledge or Gorin. I'm trying to get a feel for distances. Also, do people tend to drive the speed limits around there, even out in the country? Here in Michigan people always speed, even in town its always at least 5 mph over the speed limit and on the highways seems like 80-85 is normal. And always drives with caution as there is always a cow, horse, buck, etc who thinks they own the road. HAHA!! Have a fun and safe trip. And if you get a chance give us a report when you get back. All Best and have fun, Kathy in CA. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ellen R. 3. Hi Ellen I am sorry about my direction. I was a deputy sheriff for 15 years in Scotland Co., MO and it was simple for me just to use the old back county directions. The black top road was a state maintained highway for several years and was traded back to the county. And like I said if you travel to the end of the black top road and where it becomes a gravel road, at this point is where you turn to your left and travel up the hill on the gravel road. The Indian Creek cemetery is on your right, when you reach the top of the hill. I used this location several times in catching under age drinking. Walt ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ellen R. 2. You're welcome--one more comment, Walt said you take the paved road just east of Rutledge to get to Indian Creek. That's true, but--the road is not marked and there are two or three left turn roads coming out of Rutledge--if it sounds like I missed it on the first try, your right. The fellow who lives at the turn off must get tired of folks asking if that is the road. When you finally get on the road and the pavement runs out there is a farm on your right. You can continue going straight, but the gravel kind of turns to the left before going up the hill. You cannot see the cemetery t until you crest the hill. It is always padlocked so you have to climb over the gate. The paved road kind of goes on longer than you think it should--making you wonder if you are lost again. You're not, you're just way out in the country.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Morris, Zack Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RMB.2ACE/524 Message Board Post: Am seeking connections, information of any sort, about the family of Ben and Pauline Morris. Came from West Prussia to Memphis about 1881. Ben had a hardware store in town. He died 1927 and Pauline died 1926. They had three children, all born in Memphis. Pearl who married Morris Zack. Milton who married and divorced in the 1920s. And Leo, who married Ester W. Leo and Ben had a garage in town for many years. Milton died in 1944, Leo in 1953. Leo had a daughter Pauline, born I believe in 1920 in town. Don't know what happened to her. Would very much like to make connections and learn more. Thanks. -Will Ogburn

Family name was Morris, and was present at least until 1953. Was there much of a Jewish community in Memphis; where would one have gone to services; where would one have been buried. Thanks for any information you might have. Sincerely, Will Ogburn

    3. Dave, I came from Rutledge and I often heard my mom talk about the Pruitts, I believe she was a little related to them somehow. I have the Kintner, McCoy, McMillen, Lingenfelter on my mothers side, and the Lowe, Garwood, on the other. Am going to Mo. today so will check with my dad (95) who would know more about the Pruitts. She was born in Clark County, but was married and lived in Scotland County in the Arbela area. There are also a lot of Pruitts who lived in the Rutledge area, and it's possible that my Mary Catherine came from their line as well since one of them, a Laborn Pruitt, was living in Clark County about the same time she was born, and he had a daughter named Mary "Callie". Since Callie is a common nickname of Catherine, it is possible that they are one and the same. I have a good sized gedcom I received from one of the relatives of the Rutledge Pruitts if you want it, though I can't swear to its accuracy. -- David Shelton Ancestory website http://www.interl.net/~davestoy/des/aqwx.htm Researching the surnames of: BILLS CLARK CLINE FRUIT/FRUITT/PRUITT HOBSON RUSSELL SHELTON SMITH WILLIAMSON GOLLIHER Have information for: ALBRECHT/ALBRIGHT DEAN/DEEN FAUST/FOUST ROCKHOLD TENNEY/TINNEY UNDERWOOD
